Tax Planning

In addition to his many years of experience, Gant has a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Taxation, with honors, from the Northwestern University School of Law. He can assist with a multitude of tax issues and specializes in helping his clients plan for the minimization of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes. This is accomplished through lifetime transfer planning, as well as through the use of specialized trusts to be funded upon death. For some clients, this planning includes the creation of GST-exempt dynasty trusts, which can be structured to hold family wealth, free of transfer taxes, for many generations. Gant also assists clients with income tax and charitable planning, including the following techniques:

  • Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs)
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs)
  • Donor Advised Funds
  • Private Foundations
